Over 1 million years ago – Primordial Epoch: a time before life in the Vast Infinite existed, where the planets, including Eld, were all barren and nothing but the Abyss existed. The Architects, the creators of all life, were active in other universes, and had yet to arrive to the VI.
1 million years ago – Dawn Epoch: signifying the arrival of the Architects to Eld, the largest planet in the Vast Infinite. At this time, the Architects had only their immortal executioner race, the Ravessi, with them. The Ravessi had been created by the Architects from the Abyss itself.
900,000 years ago – Emergence Epoch: the time when the Architects crafted the Vast Infinite’s first native inhabitants. These were the Novhar, and the first generation was moulded by the Architects from the aether.
800,000 years ago – Torum Epoch: the early years of the Novhars’ development as a newborn race. They mastered the latent magic of the Vast Infinite to such an extent that they managed to bring all the VI’s planets together, linking them via the Atlas Gates. In addition, the Gnostic Planes, where all magic originates, is drawn closer, allowing the Novhar (and eventually mortal mages) easier access to it. At this time, Eld is still the chief planet, given its size, and the Architects have started to distance themselves from their created race to foster independence.
500,000 years ago – Archaic Epoch: the Novhar race continues to evolve and develop, until they have spread across all the Vast Infinite’s planets and forged a planet-spanning empire. They have also started creating their own races, aping the Architects. From these experiments arise humans, Dontili, and Vasipan, three races the Novhar decide to use as slaves and food sources.
100,000 years ago – Extinction Epoch: as punishment for creating their own races (an act only the Architects themselves are permitted), the destructive Ravessi are set upon the Novhar. But the Novhar are now too powerful, and not only do they manage to force the Ravessi back into the Abyss, they are able to destroy the Architects. For now, the Novhar are the most powerful entities in the Vast Infinite and beyond.
95,000 years ago – Novhar Epoch: the Novhar reign unchallenged. Their empire reaches its peak.
20,000 years ago – Novhar Empire toppled: reaching too high and remaining wilfully ignorant to the intelligence of their own creations, the Novhar are overthrown by the three mortal races they crafted. It is believed that most Novhar are killed during this time, most Atlas Gates are destroyed, cutting the planets of the VI off from each other.
20,000-10,000 years ago – Elder Epoch: free at last of the Novhar yoke, the mortal races inherit Eld.
10,000 years ago – The Cataclysm: with the Novhar mostly gone, the Ravessi have spent millennia regaining their strength and manage to escape the Abyss to flood into the Vast Infinite, with the help of a Novhar traitor named Erdohan, who permits them access. The Ravessi destroy an entire VI planet and ruin the northern reaches of Eld before they are defeated. The last remaining Novhar are believed killed during this time.
10,000-7,000 years ago – The Renascence: Eld recovers after the Cataclysm. Human civilization is reset to its dark ages.
7,000 years ago – The Dawn Kingdoms: the tentative early nations that sprout up after 3,000 years of struggling. They are centred around Drasken, where the most already-immortal human mages exist, and where civilization recovers faster.
6,300 years ago – Ancestral Reigns: the first proper nations to crop up in the south of Indaver. They are centred around where the Imperium will one day reign, but are tiny and fragmented by comparison.
6,000 years ago – Arisen Theocracies: immortal mages from the north migrate south and forge a divine empire where the Ancestral Reigns stagger along. The south, lacking the magical expertise the north clung to, is helpless and submits to these new gods. At its peak, the Theocracies span most of Indaver, covering Drasken, Kalduran, the Imperium, Tharghest, and Borria.
4,500 years ago – Drasken Empire founded: the natural successor to the Dawn Kingdoms, which unite beneath one name. It pulls away from the Arisen Theocracies ot establish itself.
4,000 years ago – Arisen Theocracies toppled: the last Arisen Godking, Skiron Koinos, is lynched by his own people after a reign of terror, thus ending the Theocracies.
3,700 years ago – Dolorem Kingdoms: also known as the Sorrow Kingdoms, in the wake of the Theocracies falling, south Indaver struggles. Everything south of Drasken knows no stability, and kingdoms and states rise and fall all the time, none ever lasting more than a few years.
3,300 years ago – Shadow Empire: an attempt to reclaim the stability of the Theocracies. The lands that will one day form the Imperium, Borria, Kalduran, and Tharghest join together in a tentative empire. Power is centred in the city of Empyria.
2,900 years ago – Shadow Empire fails: centralised power over such a huge area proves infallible, and the components nations of the Shadow Empire pull away. At the same time, the inhabitants of the Karhes are massing together into one almighty horde with the intent of sweeping across south Indaver to claim the fertile land there.
2,800 years ago – League of South Indaver: in retaliation to the Karhes Horde, the nations of the previous Shadow Empire band together once more, this time as a league wherein all entities are equal. The conflict between the League and the Horde lasts for generations, and Drasken eventually lends a hand, banishing the Horde for good.
1,948-720 years ago – United Empire of Adhistabor: with the need for the League of South Indaver removed, Empyria is desperate to retain its hold on power. A new empire is forged, and Adhistabor brings its former League allies beneath it banner by force. It reaches the border of Drasken at its peak, and is known for being expansionist and brutal.
720 years ago – UAE falls: Cnaeus Casus, the traitor Paramount-General, tries to usurp the ruling dynasty and sparks a civil war that collapses the UAE.
710-477 years ago – Kingdoms of Adhistabor: in the wake of the UAE’s fall, the smaller components of what will eventually become the Imperium’s seven Reigns establish themselves as individual kingdoms. The noble families of the UAE, in most cases, helm the kingdoms they once ruled as governors.
476 years ago – Imperium founded: Canisius Thurinus and Marcus Traian, both hailing from Adhistabor, forge an alliance with two other Reign kingdoms after tiring of the ceaseless border wars. Within three years, the other four Reigns have joined with Empyria to form the modern Imperium.
13 years ago - Tharghest conquered by Imperium: led by the infamous Iron Wolf, an Imperial general, the kingdom of Tharghest is toppled and absorbed.
4 years ago – the Abyss temporarily opens: unbeknownst to everyone, a single Ravessi manages to escape its prison. For the first time in 10,000 years, one of the universe’s executioners has set foot on terra firma.
Now – Novissa Boratorren, Warmaster of the Imperium, is assassinated in broad daylight. The events of Infinite’s End begin.
